Please note that we have put together some resources to make it easier for you to prepare a public comment in support of full NSF funding for the Green Bank Observatory, and this information is available on the Get Organized page. The public comment period is open from November 8, 2017 through January 8, 2018. Also, there is a public hearing scheduled at the Green Bank Observatory Science Center on November 30th, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm where you can directly voice your support for the Observatory to the NSF.

The Green Bank Observatory is magical.

To start simply – just from using your senses you can see the beauty – the juxtaposition of the technological wonders of each decade represented by each of the telescopes against the majestic, quiet mountains. Imagine taking a walk down the Observatory Road – listening to the breeze whispering through the pines, seeing the sun reflect at different angles off the hills and the telescopes – when ever so quietly, one of the telescopes turns to its next observing target. Right there and then – in the peace and beauty of your evening stroll – it could be that the next discovery of an exotic binary pulsar system, the secret to dark matter – or even the first sign that we are not alone – could be happening.
